Position

Corner Crew Leader

Reason for Nomination

As leader of the Corner
Crew, Big Goon is one of
the most spirited members
of the RIT community. He
has been faithfully cheering
on RIT since 1989.

So, how did you get the name "Big Goon"?

A lot of people consider me the leader of
Corner Crew...The funny thing is that the
name has nothing to do with hockey. I was a
student manager at Gracie's and, before the red
turnstiles were installed in the stairways,...

At 6 p.m. on Friday, May 2nd, RIT Jewish community organization
Hillel hosted its weekly service in the Allen Memorial Chapel.
Normally, this happens in Hillel House, which is located in the
dorm-side tunnels under Colby Hall, but for this occasion, larger numbers
were expected. The Shabbat service, which celebrates the weekly
day of rest, featured traditional songs and prayers, which were aimed
at introducing and opening the Jewish community to any interested RIT
students or...

Recently, you may have noticed a group of students in navy blue jump suits walking
around the Quarter Mile in spray-painted gas masks, yelling random words out of
megaphones, playing the violin, standing around what looks like a giant, futuristic
bugle made out of aluminum tubes and spray painted plastic cups, with a giant face
on the front. They look as if they might be protesting something. In fact, they very well could be
protesting something, although that's not completely clear. They...

voters. Ed WolfMatt Danna won the SG Presidency with a total of 1,939

The CollaboRITorium, billed as "RIT's mixed reality collaboration
space for interdisciplinary creativity," operates under Wallace Library and
is available to students of any discipline.

While still a work in progress, several classes are already using this space,

Car Rental Services to Change at RIT

In September of this year, RIT entered a
contract with Flexcar, a company providing
easy car rentals. However, after
a few months of business, problems
popped up in the program. Cars were
mysteriously "unavailable" at all hours
of the day, but still sitting in the parking lots.

After some deliberation, on October 30th, Flexcar
executives announced a merger with a competitor,
Zipcar. This seemingly minor change caused
a considerable loss of jobs for employees working
in Flexcar's...

Professor Promotions
Dave Morgan, a graduate student studying IT, addressed the Senate with
a concern about the role of teaching at RIT. Previously, the administration
would allow professors to attain tenure with or without a terminal'
degree (a doctorate in most cases, a masters in some). The primary test
was whether or not the individual professor was qualified for tenure, and
not necessarily how they got that experience (through industry or through
graduate school).

Recently, the...
