As college students we rarely have the chance to stop and think about our lives, to consider where they’ve already taken us and where may lead from here. With upwards of 16 hours of class each week, plus homework, projects, and studying the average student’s schedule is pretty full. Tack on a few hours of work and the odd social endeavor and you’re lucky to find yourself with a few hours for sleep, let alone a trip to the laundry room.

RIT’s frantic 10-week schedule certainly doesn’t help matters. There are times when the weeks are flying by so fast I can almost see the motion blur out of the corner of my eye. But thankfully, by the end of next week, we will all be able to breath a sigh of relief as Week 11 comes to a close and we can look forward to one beautiful week all to ourselves.

In the rush to get away from Rochester, many of us will cram our Spring Break schedules full to the point of bursting — I know I have my first 72 hours of freedom pretty much booked solid. But in the midst of your vacations, I urge you to take a day or two for yourself, to reflect on where your life has taken you these last 10 weeks and to contemplate where you want it to lead in the next 10. The answer may just surprise you.
